    n. A notational shorthand used in UML statecharts to combine two or more incoming state transitions into a single transition. Shown as a vertical bar with two or more transitions going into it and one coming out. Because a system can only be in one state within a given orthogonal region at any point in time, the transitions coming into the join pseudostate must each begin in distinct orthogonal regions.Compare to fork pseudostate.
