TCP port

    n. A numeric identifier for a TCP endpoint on a particular network node. To reach a particular device, each TCP packet must be addressed to a valid IP address and port number. If no thread is listening on that particular port, the packet will be discared by the receiver’s TCP/IP stack. See also socket, well-known port numbers.
