Google recently announced that they are launching an DIY kind of kit for AI. This is a basically extension board of famous board Raspberry PI, which users can use with camera and come up with their own DIY Computer vision kit. The Kit is called as AIY. Like the Google cardboard, this kit will also be shipped with cute cardboar box.
The AIY Vision Kit’s platform includes different kind of neural network models:
- one neural network recognizes a thousand common objects;
- one can recognizes faces and expressions;
- and a “a person, cat and dog detector.” Users can design and train their own neural network models using Google’s TensorFlow machine learning software.
Google plans this as a cheap and simple computer vision system that doesn’t require access to cloud computing, because of this extra processing unit. It suggests several basic uses, including setting up cameras to detect your dog or car. But it also offers more interesting possibilities, like detecting plants and animals with the kit.
This is kind of second project released from Google’s AIY program, which is a joint venture along with Raspberry Pi’s Foundation. The first was called Voice HAT, and it added microphones that let users issue Google Assistant commands to Raspberry Pi-controlled devices.
